Celebrity
has four classes of ships and each have their own special
features which will appeal to a varied clientele.
SOLSTICE
CLASS
Since
Celebrity Eclipse joined
their fleet in 2010, she has dazzled and amazed even the most
well-traveled cruisers. Like her Solstice Class
sisters before her, she showcases spectacular vistas with 85% of
all staterooms having sweeping veranda views. Celebrity Eclipse
hosts Qsine, a dining venue with a unique and playful approach
to familiar dishes from around the world, and Celebrity iLounge,
a hip, modern Internet café offering guests what they have
asked for—easy access to the Internet, inspiring classes and
latest tech gadgets. Add the fresh green grass on the top deck's
Lawn Club and the incredibly pampering services in AquaSpa, and
you may never want to set foot on land again.
Onboard
Experience: If you already like Celebrity you will love
Solstice. Solstice is like a roomier version of the Celebrity
Millennium-class. The designers more than compensated for the
larger capacity, making her the perfect size - alive with
activities but never too crowded.
Solstice is also
beautiful with many of the same features that make the
Millennium class appealing. There are long drapes cascading down
from three decks above to frame the Grand Foyer staircase. There
is a beautiful chandelier in the dining room while the
alternative dining spots are generously apportioned with plenty
of space between the tables.
The vast majority of
staterooms have balconies, and they average 15% larger than
other Celebrity ships, Most of the extra room is given over to
the bathroom where there is enough room for two people to get
ready for dinner. The large showers feature sliding doors rather
than plastic curtains that hug against you and there is more
storage than most cruise ships.
One major
extravagance is shopping with 18 outlets for "retail
therapy" onboard. There are gift shops exclusively for
women and for men, jewelry shops, dress shops, souvenir shops
and kiosks. One does not generally cruise to shop, but these
stores are certainly tempting and you can always go in just to
chat. The art gallery is low-key and not hard-sell. Look for the
86-facet diamond-pattern round cut Solstice Diamonds - available
in all sizes.
Ten dining options
will satisfy any craving, especially for fine coffees with
pastry or gelato. Wine tastings by the glass are offered. There
is an extensive library and game room.

dispensing system. It will pour your choice directly
from the bottle in a 1-ounce, 2.5-ounce or 5-ounce
portion as you swipe you SeaPass card.
The Sommeliers will offer further insight into the fine
art of wine selection. |
|
LAWN
CLUB
There's
absolutely nothing like it. A freshly manicured lawn on
the highest deck of the ship. This is The Lawn Club.
Enjoy casual outdoor activities in a decidedly Country
Club atmosphere, and let the grass between your toes
take you places no cruise has gone before. |
|
SKY

look back, look forward and be amazed by the
breathtaking views in our ultimate observation lounge.
The floor to ceiling windows will captivate and the
expansive space will please you as you relax in the
comfy seating all around. The lounge is versatile and

MILLENIUM
CLASS |
Onboard Experience:
The Millenium class ships are being refurbished to include
many features of the Solstice class ships. You will notice
the relaxing and elegant atmosphere onboard Millennium the
moment you cross the gangway. As your cruise progresses,
gentle reminders that you're aboard one of the most
sophisticated ships in the "premium" range of
cruise lines will appear.
The
tone is set early in the cruise. Representatives from each
of the ship's activity options set up poolside tables to
answer questions of arriving guests on embarkation day.
Whether it's spa appointments, questions about Internet
rates or casino gaming, it's a nice touch to begin the
cruise. There is enough variety in onboard activities,
enrichment lectures, and quality entertainment to keep
almost any type of cruiser happy -- all led by a friendly
and energetic Cruise Director and his staff.
Décor:
Celebrity's designers deserve an ovation for their
ingenious fusion of contemporary, Old World, Art Deco and
chic resort influences. The highlight is the central
atrium with glorious amounts of natural light on the edges
and a stunning white onyx stairway down the center. The
translucent staircase glows with internal yellow neon
light and is lined with three-story-high mahogany pillars
surrounded by long golden flowing curtains. Altogether,
the combination is a visual delight. Vast expanses of
glass and beechwood bisect mahogany-paneled walls, most
adorned with provocative works of art. Design accents
include golden velveteen and suede brocades, burled woods,
and ornate topiaries.
Elegant
striped, floral, or patterned fabrics in pastel
distinguish the stateroom decor, along with Deco lighting
fixtures, and marble desktops. The
busiest public rooms onboard Millennium are the Champagne
and Martini Bars on Deck 5 and the Rendezvous Lounge on
Deck 4. These large lounges, located just forward of the
two level dining room, span port to starboard.

CENTURY CLASS
Onboard Experience:
Century has just emerged from a $55 million
refurbishment that added many features found on the
Millennium-class vessels. 314 new verandas were added to
cabins, and 14 new suites were created out of existing
space, 10 new staterooms categories, ranging from inside
to veranda, including an expanded number of Concierge
Class staterooms and a new specialty restaurant have
been added.
The Spa has been
expanded, and the deck area nearby now has a Spa Cafe in
the style of the Millennium class. It features light,
healthy spa cuisine, available for breakfast, lunch or
dinner.
The Lido deck now offers
a variety of food stations they collectively refer to as
"Casual Dining Boulevard." It includes a
made-to-order Pasta and Pizza Bar, Sushi Cafe, and a
small ice cream parlor. The usual buffet breakfasts will
still be served, but they are adding themed lunches, and
a casual dress dinner service every night. Other
additions to the ship include the Cova Cafe Milano, a
champagne bar, martini bar, a new computer/business
center and a permanent space dedicated to the
"Acupuncture at Sea" program. The children's
facilities have been expanded as well.
Decor: One word you could
use for this ship is "dramatic" with stark
shades of silver against dark mahogany wood. The ship
goes from light and bright in the Atrium to dark and
brooding in the dining and theater areas. The
refurbishment means all the fabrics and finishings have
been newly upgraded giving the ship a fresh new look.
Public Rooms: Century
boasts the first "ice bar" concept at sea,
similar to the actual Ice Bar in Stockholm and the Ice
Hotel in northern Sweden. Within Century's Martini Bar
is a liquid wall that freezes to form a sparkling
crystalline appearance, and a bar counter that freezes
into solid ice, while another solid block of ice will
holds bottles of liquor behind the bar.
The Crystal Lounge,
Michael's Club jazz/piano bar, Rendezvous Lounge, and
Hemispheres observation lounge and disco have all been
entirely refurbished. Teen travelers now have a lounge
all their own - Century's new "X-Treme" teen
lounge and video arcade. The dedicated space includes a
dance floor, video arcade, juice bar, jukebox, and
karaoke, along with computers offering Internet access.
The ship has a large casino with slot machines and a
full selection of gaming tables. Several areas
containing slot machines and a couple of gaming tables
are designated non-smoking.
The Boulevard is the new
shopping area with four boutiques, a computer room with
Internet service and lessons, a card room, and a library
(though hours are somewhat limited). An art gallery
joins the boutiques, allowing art lovers the chance to
purchase one-of-a-kind works, designer beauty products,
leather goods, premium gifts, rare gems, and designer
accessories, including watches and sunglasses.
